Since 1957 it has belonged to the chain Kempinski, and it also belongs to The Leading Hotels of the World. In 1997, parts of the James Bond movie ''Tomorrow Never Dies'' were filmed in the hotel. In May 2008, the facade of the hotel was restored. The hotel was awarded as the best hotel in Germany until June 2009.
